Therapy is a Process

The Therapy Department at Hickory Orthopaedic Center focuses on improving patients’ strength, balance, coordination, and joint mobility to aid them in completing functional activities and improving quality of life. Our therapy team includes Physical and Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers, and a Certified Hand Therapist.  

Staff

Our licensed physical and occupational therapists have advanced training in the treatment of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, and functional movement impairments. We are equipped to deliver individualized rehabilitation programs to give our patients the opportunity to achieve a successful recovery with limited downtime.

Treatment programs are customized to help patients return to a normal lifestyle or a higher level of functionality and may include:

  • gait training
  • injury prevention techniques


It usually takes a few visits to see any progress. A successful therapy program requires good communication between the physician, therapist and patient to determine the most effective treatment options. We work closely with physicians to develop comprehensive rehabilitation programs and monitor progress throughout the course of treatment.
